This is useful as a kind of rest, and allows for more air which is fine. But it makes it incompatible with the older docking stations and perhaps with a laptop cover/bag as it takes up more space.

Taken as a replacement for the original Lenovo 72wh battery for ThinkPad T580, a battery that had now reached the end of its life, the battery in question showed about 48wh of initial capacity. After several charge/discharge cycles (two weeks of use) the capacity rose to 53.5wh. It would be worth getting another spare! ;-)
